Bigger things beckon for Ventus after the youngster’s impressive debut win at Quirindi last month.
Ventus (pictured) showed sustained speed to lead all the way over 1000 metres.
The $200,000 Wellington Boot (1100m) in late March is now on the radar for the daughter of Magic Albert.
Ventus was bred by Kooringal and was part of the stud’s inaugural online sale in late 2020 but was a last-minute withdrawal.
"Unfortunately the filly had a nasty foot abscess during the sale and I didn't want a purchaser to think she wasn't completely sound when she walked off the float," Kooringal Stud's Gus Lamont said.
"She was a neat filly, who has already repaid us and has a bright future ahead."
Kooringal races Ventus with a large syndicate of owners.
The bay’s trainer Tracey Bartley has been a long-time supporter of Kooringal but Ventus is the first galloper he has prepared for the stud.
Ventus is from the winning Red Ransom mare Hewayaat. A number of keen pedigree enthusiasts may remember Gus has alluded to the success of the cross in a previous newsletters and it appears likely to be no different here.
