Prized Icon's progeny quick to make impact

The first of Prized Icon’s progeny has been quick to attract the attention of buyers.

Two of Prized Icon’s fillies went through the sales ring at the 2021 Gold Coast National Weanling Sale in May and were sold to Gooree Park Stud for $18,000 and $16,000 respectively.

“They generated a lot of interest and there were some very positive comments about them,” Kooringal Stud’s Angus Lamont said.

“The fact they were both bought by Gooree Park was a bonus as they will be given every possible chance on the racetrack.”

Gooree Park has a strong interest in Prized Icon, having bred and raced the son of More Than Ready.

Prized Icon won two Group 1 races – the AJC Champagne Stakes and the Victoria Derby – and accumulated more than $2.1 million in prizemoney for Gooree Park.

Earlier in the month, a Prized Icon filly was sold by Redbank North for $18,000 in the select session of the 2021 Australian Weanling Sale.
