Prized Icon’s sales graduates have made their way to some of the best homes in the land.
The Kooringal Stud stallion’s first crop of yearlings were extremely well received at sales held on both sides of Australia last month.
High-profile metropolitan mentors John Thompson, Kelly Schweida, Paul and Martha Cave and Ken Keys were among the trainers to add a Prized Icon youngster to their stables.
The Ciaron Maher-David Eustace combination, Peter Moody, Matthew Smith, Gary Portelli, Annabel Neasham, Stuart Kendrick and Ryan Balfour are others who will be giving Prized Icon’s progeny a flying start to their racing careers.
Respected provincial and country trainers Theresa Bateup, Emma and Lucy Longmire, Doug Gorrel and Kerry Weir have also been quick to snap up a Prized Icon.
The Inglis Classic Yearling Sale witnessed nine of the dual Group 1 winner’s offspring sell for an impressive average of more than $50,000.
Newgate Farm’s colt fetched the highest price of $145,000.
The bay, who is from the stakesplaced General Nediym mare Agueda, will be trained at Randwick by Thompson.

Keys paid $60,000 for a colt from Any Other Day, who has already been represented on the track by the stakeswinner Everyday Lady.
Schweida returned to Brisbane with an imposing chestnut colt by Prized Icon from the Excellent Art mare Esempio after outlaying $30,000.
Kooringal sold four colts and a filly by Prized Icon as well as a Duporth yearling.
“I'm thrilled with the homes the Prized Icon's have found themselves in", Kooringal's Gus Lamont said
"After the first session they were averaging 6 times his service fee, which is a huge result."
Kooringal’s second online sale achieved solid results in late February.
Bateup Racing purchased the top-priced lot – an imposing filly (pictured) by Prized Icon from As You Say – for $20,000 from the Inglis Digital auction.
The Kembla Grange-based trainer paid $12,000 for another Prized Icon filly who is a half-sister to Theresa’s promising metropolitan placed three-year-old Densaur.
The Longmires, Balfour, Gorrel, Weir and Cameron Crockett stables were also successful bidders.
Twelve lots – nine by Prized Icon as well as a Duporth, Smart Missile and Squamosa yearling – sold for an average of more than $10,000.
On the opposite side of the Nullabor, Prized Icon made his presence felt at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Perth.
A filly by the son of More Than Ready and from the five-time winner Dance The Beat was taken home by Hayden Ballantyne Racing for $55,000.
The other Prized Icon filly – the third foal of Alert mare Pintupi - was sold to Peter and Luke Fernie for $50,000.
Prized Icon has enjoyed strong books while standing for $11,000 (inc GST) in his first three seasons at stud.
